SARAH QUIDER
FOLEY FOOD & WINE SOCIETY | California
Sarah Quider is Vice President of Winemaking at Foley Family Wines, overseeing all production of this diverse and unique portfolio. Working closely with each winery’s winemaker, Sarah makes crucial decisions in order to assure the individual identity, style, and distinct personality at each winery.
Sarah began her winemaking career at Ferrari-Carano in 1995, when she was hired as a harvest intern. After harvest, she worked at Jordan winery from 1999 to 2003, and from the encouragement of Rob Davis, winemaker at Jordan Winery, she enrolled in the Viticulture and Enology program at the University of California, Davis. Upon graduation, she returned to Ferrari-Carano as an assistant winemaker and was quickly promoted to associate winemaker in charge of the Russian River Valley white wines program. In 2006, Sarah became the winemaker for Ferrari-Carano’s white wines and Pinot Noirs. In 2014, Sarah was promoted to Executive Winemaker overseeing all winemaking operations at Ferrari-Carano as well as Lazy Creek Vineyards.
Sarah brings her knowledge and experience to Foley Family Wines as well as her passion for winemaking. “My goal is to make complex, intense, and seamless wines that are balanced in both richness and delicacy,” said Sarah. “We have such a tremendous diversity of wineries at Foley Family Wines. We have wineries and vineyards located in various appellations, each with unique micro-climates, soils, and clones. I love expressing this diversity in each of these wines.”
Raised in Sonoma County, Sarah enjoys gardening, being outdoors, running, and traveling with her two children, Cameron and Sophia. She has completed two half Ironmans with colleague Rebecka Deike. When not enjoying wine, Sarah loves to share her large collection of gin from around the world.
